Faith in Action Day

Put Your Faith in Action October 1

Worship will be our Send-off rather than our 10:45 time.  Sunday School classes are invited to participate in Faith in Action.

October 1 is the date for our first Faith in Action day.  The congregation will leave the building to serve God in our community.  After a send-off at 8:30, we will spend the day “being” the church.

Yes, this is a Sunday and it means we will not have worship at our usual 10:45am time.  Instead we will be worshipping by being the hands and feet of Christ.  Our goal is to have projects that can involve any and all age groups, male and female.

We will return to the church at 5:00pm for a covered dish dinner.  Fried chicken will be provided.  Please bring a side dish to go with it.  We will also have a power point picture presentation of our work during the day.  Please take pictures on your cell phones and email to Stacy@pearsallfirstumc.org.

Here are our jobs.  You may sign up in advance or sign up on that day.  We do need some people to agree to lead each job.  All supplies will be provided.  Leaders will simply organize the people on the team at the job site.

Jobs:

1. Writing appreciation notes to Fire Fighters, Sheriff’ Dept. and Police Dept.  Note Cards and a sample will be available.  We have a long list of names to whom we will be writing.  Spend time in the cool writing notes.

2. Working at the Child Welfare thrift shop.

3. Baking cookies to deliver to Police Dept and others—Mostly for children but no volunteers will be turned away.

4. Making placemats for Kairos—again no volunteers will be turned  away and children may help.

5. Replace bathroom window and facing in home—window, wood and caulk to be provided.  Need skilled help. Re-nail fascia board around house, brace hand rails, caulk.

6. Yard work with some branch trimming.  Mow after weed eat—bring lawn mowers, weed eaters and tree clippers.

7. Stain and seal deck at Wesley Nurse office.  Caulk a bathroom at the church.  Brushes and supplies provided.

8. Wash windshields as love gift at HEB and Walmart.

(Most jobs can be finished by noon.)

T-shirts will be available for sale for $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for children.  They can be used year to year.  (Wear the stains of our work day proudly!)  It is an exciting and rewarding day.  You will definitely receive more than you give.
